Eight teams came head-to-head at Brecon RFC PC on Sunday, 16th June, to be one of the four teams to qualify to represent the WPA at Petanque England’s (PE) Inter-Regional Championships in September.

Players represented a number of our clubs: Brecon RFC PC (competition hosts), Caerleon RFC PC, Cardiff Harlequins PC, Monkstone PC, Pontyclun PC, SWBRC-PS and Twyn-y-Ffwrd Inn PC and a team of unaffiliated members comprising former members of the Wheatsheaf PC.

After seven rounds, the final results held a few surprises: new teams pushed out teams that you would have normally expected on past performances to have qualified, some suffering significant defeats during the day’s play.

Congratulations to the top four teams who have qualified to represent the WPA. Teams five and six are the two reserve teams.
